A vampire never gets old. But neither do his enemies. When a figure from Ethan's dark past makes a splashy debut in Chicago, Merit and her Master don't know whether he's friend or foe. But they'll have to figure out soon, because trouble is brewing in the Windy City.

At an exclusive society soiree attended by the upper echelons of the human and supernatural worlds, Merit and Ethan barely stop the assassination of a guest. When the target turns out to be a shady businessman with a criminal edge, Merit suspects a human vendetta. But the assassins have fangs....

The connections to Chicago's Houses go deeper than Merit knows, and even one wrong move could be her last....

My Thoughts:

This is book 11 in the Chicagoland Vampire Series.  Throughout these books the characters have grown and been through a lot together.  All the characters are easy to love and you find yourself rooting for them through all the crazy things they have to deal with.

I love that the main character is a badass female, Merit. She was turned into a vampire even though she didn't consent, and slowly makes the transition to an awesome heroine.  She is strong, independent and grows in each book, on the way to become a "real" vampire.

Of course there is relationship drama between Merit and Ethan, Master of Cadogan House, but in this book it seems to take a back seat to the other dramas they are faced with.   Balthasar, Ethan's long thought dead maker, seems to have made a reappearance and is causing trouble for everyone.  But don't be fooled by a sheep in wolves clothing.  Also Morgan makes a reappearance with some drama of his own.  Navarre house seems to be having financial troubles and Cadogan house is there to bail them out.

The romance, friendship and drama keep me coming back to this series over and over again.  Also it is great that even though this is book 11 in the series you never really know what is going to happen.  It's not predictable or repetitive.

My Rating:

I give Dark debt a B+.  If you love vampires, witches, shape shifters, super naturals of all kinds and of course drama then you will love this series.  It's a great read that you don't have to invest a ton of time in.  I will definitely be continuing this series!

Save Me by Eliza Freed / Review

Be careful with perfection. It's brilliant at hiding its flaws.Once Charlotte O'Brien accepted she'd never be with the one person who filled her with more passion-and anger-than she'd ever felt before, her choice became clear: she would close the door on a life with Jason Leer and embrace her future with Noble Sinclair.

Luckily for Charlotte, Noble has proven time and again that he cherishes her in a way which heals her every gaping wound. But first love never dies. Apparently it moves home to torture Charlotte with daily reminders of what could have been. And while Charlotte may have quit Jason, Jason will never quit her. Suddenly, it's becoming harder and harder for Charlotte to remember why marrying Noble was the right choice . . .
The stunning conclusion to Eliza Freed's provocative Lost Souls series.

Note:  I received an advance copy of this book.  My husband saw how quickly I feel in love with this series and since Eliza Freed was a local author he decided to extend an invite to my birthday dinner to her.  To everyone surprise she came and brought me a wonderful gift of a signed copy of Forgive Me, I had a signed copy of Redeem Me that I won off of her Facebook page and a signed advanced copy of Save Me.  With the stipulation I couldn't share anything until the book released.  Eliza was super personable and it was awesome that she came to a fans birthday party, especially since she had no idea who I was!  Thank you Eliza!!!

My Thoughts:

This is the third and final book in the Lost Souls Series.  This book starts out with Charlotte and Noble getting engaged!  It seems as though everything is falling into place.  Except those stray thoughts of Jason Leer. After a small delay,  Charlotte moves quickly planning the wedding and hoping for the best.  But of course Jason is there to mix up Charlottes emotions, but she stand firm and marries Noble.

Tragedy strikes again.  Charlotte has been taking care of Butch, Jason father for some time and he takes a turn for the worse.  He is diagnosed with Cancer and given a very short time to live.  The news is devastating for Charlotte, she can't deal with the loss of another parent figure. To make it worse Jason Leer moves home to cause even more turmoil for her.

Jason is relentless in his attempts to steal Charlotte from Noble, she stands strong or does she?  She falls in love with the child that tore her and Jason apart after spending time with him when Jason is visiting his father. She just can't let the Leer boys go.  Through all of this Noble is being tested to his limit.  Will he still stand by Charlotte through all of this or will he break?

There are HUGE twists at the end of this book.  I was shocked, distraught and just couldn't believe what happened when I read it.  I love how this book wrapped up all the loose ends and questions that popped up while reading it and ended in the most perfect way possible.  I absolutely loved this book and series.

My Rating:

I give Forgive me an A+, this book had a lot of ups and downs as the other but some crazy twists and turns that I definitely didn't see coming.  This book definitely had me in tears while going on this ride with the Charlotte, Jason and Noble.  A perfect ending to a perfect series.

Redeem Me by Eliza Freed / Review

Some things can't be forgiven...

Charlotte O'Brien should forgive God for her parents' death. She should forgive her boyfriend for his one horrific mistake that separated them, and she should forgive herself for cutting them both off, but instead she hates everyone.

But when her childhood friend Noble Sinclair arrives, his passion reignites the spark that had vanished so completely in Charlotte's gray existence. And in Noble's arms, Charlotte finally begins to wonder if she might be ready to choose the future with Noble over her shattered past.

Redeem Me is Book 2 in the Lost Souls Series.

My Thoughts:

This is the second book in the Lost Souls Series.  This book starts out with our leading lady in a severe depression due to the betrayal of her cowboy.  Charlotte is shutting everyone out and neglecting herself to the point her friends and family are getting worried they may have to intervene. Jason is doing everything in his power to fix this huge mistake and reconcile with Charlotte but she is not having it.

After Charlottes best friends come to town and make her shape up.  In the process of getting out of her funk she runs into Noble Sinclair, a longtime friend who also happens to have been in love with her for years, but she hasn't noticed.  As they start to spend more time together she realizes the depth of his feelings but is afraid she is going to hurt him because even though Jason broke her heart she is still in love with him.  Will Noble be able to fix Charlottes broken heart or is her love for Jason to strong to let her love another?

Redeem me is full of emotion.  As you go through the ride with Charlotte you are angry, worried and hopeful for what may be.  Charlotte finds herself in the middle of a complicated love triangle with the man that broke  her heart, Jason, and the man trying to fix her heart, Noble.

Who will Charlotte choose, her wild storm Jason or the calm sunny day Noble?  This book leaves you wondering.  I couldn't wait to read the last book in this series to see who Charlotte chose and how the one left behind reacts to her decision.

My Rating:

I give Forgive me an A+, this book had a lot of emotional scenes to pull you in. But you are still wondering who she will choose so glad I don't have to make that choice.  This book definitely reeks havoc on your heart and emotions.  It's a page turner that you just can't put down.

When two lost souls find each other, are they still lost?

Charlotte O'Brien is lost in the devastation of her parents' death. With her foundation in ruins, she buries herself in an unlikely lover, Jason Leer.

When they're together it's everything, but when they're apart it's utterly frustrating. Can love survive when distance is measured in more than just miles?

Forgive Me is the first book in The Lost Souls Series.

My Thoughts:

I was introduced to this book by a mutual friend of the author.  I had never read a book by Eliza Freed before.  I am really glad I was introduced to her books and an amazing series that has definitely gotten my attention.

Every girl is looking for that boy who give them butterflies when they are near.  For Charlotte this came in the form of Jason Leer.  Charlotte is a girl who loves the city and her work there but she  falls in love with Jason who is a cowboy who loves the country and rodeo.  Do opposites really attract?  Is love enough to make it past all the differences?

Charlotte O'Brien knew the comfortable relationship and life she was living wasn't what she really wanted.  She finds an old friend in Jason Leer who ignites all those feelings she is looking for and gives her the butterflies all girls want but at the same times drivers her completely crazy with his demanding nature.  Then Charlottes world crashed down around her when her parents are killed in a car accident.  Who is there to pick her up but Jason Leer.  The passion replaces her pain and helps her through that tough time.

Jason Leer is best described as a wild storm.  He is passionate, intense and a little dangerous.  He's had tragedy in his life as well so he knows all too well what Charlotte is feeling with the loss of her parents.

In this book there are so many emotions, loss, love, angst, friendship, passion and much more.   This books make you wonder if love is really enough.  Charlotte and Jason use their love to move past the major traumas in their lives and cover up the pain from it.  But when the differences surface and they realize that to stay together one will have to give up what they thought was the plan for their life, is the love and passion really enough to keep them together.

The cliff hanger at the end of this book leaves you yearning for more.  I couldn't wait to see where this story went and if love was enough.

My Rating:

I give Forgive me an A+, this book had everything I am looking for to keep my attention.  Highs, lows, passion, hot cowboys and of course drama to keep you wondering.
